Gneiss Outcrop Scientific & Natural Area (SNA)
Join
Ron Bolduan for a hike into our geologic past. Ron
will show off some of his favorite spots in the Gneiss SNA and
demonstrate techniques for photographing wildlife up
close.
Ron
Bolduan is a photographer, naturalist and speaker in the Minnesota
River Watershed and is extensively involved with the Minnesota River
Valley National Scenic Byway. Ron has spend years hiking and
documenting through photography the natural beauty and diversity of
many sites including the Gneiss Outcrop SNA.

EXPLORE THE WONDERFUL MUSSELS
Come for a close-up view of the mussel world in Minnesota. Experts Mike Davis and Ber-
nard Sietman of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will help us learn more
about this rarely seen and understood native species.
A formal presentation will start at 7:00 p.m. at the Chippewa County Courthouse Assembly
Room in Montevideo on September 5th (Friday). On the morning of September 6th
(Saturday) a hike will start at 9 a.m. on the Chippewa River at the Hwy 40 Bridge to search
for mussels in the water. Be prepared to get wet.
